How to Create an Addon Domain Using cPanel

An addon domain allows you to host a completely separate, fully functional website under a new domain name within your single cPanel account. Follow these steps to set up the new domain.

Step 1: Accessing the Addon Domains Tool

  1. Log in to your cPanel control panel.
  2. In the cPanel main interface, navigate to the Domains category and click on the Addon Domains link.

Step 2: Entering the Required Information

  1. Fill in the required fields to define the new domain setup:
    • New Domain Name: This is the actual domain name you are adding to your hosting account (e.g., example.com).
    • Subdomain/FTP Username: Create a login name that can be used to access the new domain's file space via FTP.
    • Document Root: This automatically generated folder name within your master domain's public_html directory will hold all the files for the new addon domain.
    • Password: Create a secure password for the user defined in the step above.
    • Password (Again): Confirm the password for verification.

Step 3: Finalizing Domain Creation

  1. Click the Add Domain button to complete the process and create the addon domain.
Important: This functionality requires that the addon domain's nameservers are correctly pointing to the same server as your master domain.
