How to Create an Addon Domain Using cPanel
An addon domain allows you to host a completely separate, fully functional website under a new domain name within your single cPanel account. Follow these steps to set up the new domain.
Step 1: Accessing the Addon Domains Tool
- Log in to your cPanel control panel.
- In the cPanel main interface, navigate to the Domains category and click on the Addon Domains link.
Step 2: Entering the Required Information
- Fill in the required fields to define the new domain setup:
- New Domain Name: This is the actual domain name you are adding to your hosting account (e.g., example.com).
- Subdomain/FTP Username: Create a login name that can be used to access the new domain's file space via FTP.
- Document Root: This automatically generated folder name within your master domain's public_html directory will hold all the files for the new addon domain.
- Password: Create a secure password for the user defined in the step above.
- Password (Again): Confirm the password for verification.
Step 3: Finalizing Domain Creation
- Click the Add Domain button to complete the process and create the addon domain.
Important: This functionality requires that the addon domain's nameservers are correctly pointing to the same server as your master domain.
