How to Create an Account Backup Using the cPanel Backup Wizard
This guide walks you through the steps to generate a backup of your website files, databases, and other account data using the built-in cPanel Backup Wizard utility.
Step 1: Accessing the Backup Wizard
- Log in to your cPanel control panel.
- Navigate to the Files section and click on the Backup Wizard link.
Step 2: Starting the Backup Process
- On the Backup Wizard introductory screen, click on the Backup button to proceed.
Step 3: Selecting the Backup Type
- Choose either a Full or a Partial backup:
- Full Backup: This option creates a complete archive of everything associated with your account on the server. Full backups must be downloaded and restored by your hosting provider or via SSH; they cannot be restored through the cPanel interface.
- Partial Backup: This allows you to back up selected objects only, such as Home Directory files, MySQL databases, or Email Forwarders and Filters. Partial backup files can be restored directly through the cPanel interface.
After selecting your type, follow the prompts to complete the backup file generation and download the resulting file.
