Understanding Website Bandwidth Print

What is Website Bandwidth?

Bandwidth refers to the total volume of data transferred between your website and the internet over a specific time period, typically measured per month. This transfer includes all data moving both into (upload) and out of (download) your hosting account.

How Bandwidth Consumption is Calculated

The simplest way to understand bandwidth usage is by looking at file access. If you have a file, such as a 1 megabyte (MB) image, stored on your server and a visitor accesses that image four times (for instance, by refreshing the page four times), that single file access accounts for 4 MB of total bandwidth consumed.

While bandwidth is calculated across many data transactions, the majority of the usage comes from simple Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP) requests. This includes every time someone accesses any part of your website through a browser, downloads a PDF document, or streams a video hosted on your account.

Important Note for Our Customers

Please note that we offer **unlimited bandwidth** on all our hosting plans. This means you do not have to worry about monitoring your data usage or incurring overage charges based on how much traffic your website generates.
